Storage of high pressure seals
High-pressure seals and supports are often stored as spare parts for a long period of time. The physical properties of most rubber materials will change during storage and eventually can no longer be used, such as: too hard, too soft, cracking or other forms of Surface aging, these changes are the result of special factors or multiple factors, such as deformation, oxygen, ozone, light, heat, humidity or oil and solvent, if some simple measures are taken, the shelf life of these products can be greatly extended. The key points for the storage, cleaning and maintenance of elastomeric sealing elements are established in accordance with international standards.

High pressure sealParts and supports are often stored as spare parts for a long period of time. The physical properties of most rubber materials will change during storage and eventually can no longer be used, such as: too hard, too soft, cracking or other forms of surface aging. These changes are the result of special factors or multiple factors, such as deformation, oxygen, ozone, light, heat, humidity or oil and solvent, if some simple measures are taken, the shelf life of these products can be greatly extended. The key points for the storage, cleaning and maintenance of elastomeric sealing elements are established in accordance with international standards.
The recommended storage life of elastomers of different material grades in the standard, in order to maintain the physical and chemical properties of the components, should follow the following rules:
Heat
The ideal storage temperature is 5°C to 25°C, and direct contact with heat sources, such as boilers, radiators, avoid direct sunlight, if the temperature is lower than 5°C, the seal may become hard, use should be careful, the temperature of the seal should be raised to about 25°C before use.
Humidity
The relative humidity of the storage room should be less than 70%. Avoid being too wet or too dry.
Light
The rubber sealing strip should be stored away from light, especially not in the sun or artificial light containing ultraviolet components. The components should be packaged separately with anti-ultraviolet packaging. It is recommended to use red or orange curtains to cover the windows of the storage room.
Radiation
In the case of electronic radiation, special protective measures should be taken to prevent damage to the parts.
Oxygen and ozone
If possible, the elastomer should be packed and stored in a sealed container, away from air. Since ozone will destroy the elastomer, equipment that may produce ozone, such as ultraviolet lamps, high-voltage equipment, motors, electric spark sources or electrostatic discharge, combustion gases and organic vapors will also produce ozone under photochemical action, so these gases should not enter the storage room.
